Learning Organization Journey

 

 

 

 

If businesses, like people, have a cycle in which they are born, grow and end their lives, then do they learn and develop in the stage they live in? Do businesses also have an intelligence, a memory?

 

Of course, businesses with a human element also learn and teach. However, this is not something that will happen in a short time. Born just like a baby, the business grows and develops slowly. Therefore, it has a memory, that is, memory.

 

Many businesses have adopted an outwardly closed principle and are doomed to extinction. Today, however, businesses have become open systems with globalizing and rapidly developing technology. Learning organization journeys also started here.

 

Before we get into our article, let's underline that a learning organization is a journey, not a destination. A learning organization is a group of people who continuously improve themselves, both together and as individuals, in order to achieve the common future they desire.

 

 

 

Some learning disabilities have been common in the past. We can list them as follows:

 

 

 

I am whatever my position is

 

The enemy is always outside

 

delusion of taking responsibility

 

get stuck on events

 

The dream of learning from mistakes

 

Being a boiled frog

 

We are a team scam

 

 

 

So how can we overcome these shortcomings? Research conducted for this has suggested five disciplines of the learning organization.

 

 

 

       1. Intellectual Models:

 

 

 

It can be expressed as the ways of thinking of each of us. As a result of factors such as upbringing, education, and experiences, different intellectual models are formed. Intellectual models, on the other hand, aim to recognize these models, share them, and have more constructive and productive conversations.

 

It should not be forgotten that when we are not aware of our own intellectual models, we cannot accept that others may have different intellectual models from ours.

 

 

 

2. Personal Competence:

 

It is to find out what is "really" important to us, what we want to do, by sincerely questioning ourselves, to create a picture in our minds of our future that we want to achieve.

 

Being honest with ourselves about our current situation, accepting our strengths and areas that we should not improve, and making an effort to close the gap between our current situation and the vision we want to achieve will facilitate this stage.

 

 

 

3. Learning as a Team:

 

The Discipline of Team Learning includes the ability to enrich the differences among team members, and the ability of those outside the team to contribute, to think together, to practice, and to achieve greater and lasting results than individual results.

 

 

A team demonstrates a shared intelligence that no individual can achieve alone. Social networks within the team directly affect the speed, quality and results of the decisions taken. The strength of a team comes from the individual differences that make up that team.

 

 

 

4. Shared Vision:

 

When we have a shared vision, we lock onto common goals and work together to achieve these goals.

 

 

 

5. Systems Thinking:

 

A system thinker constantly questions "why" and tries to see the relationships between events. Events are the tip of the iceberg that we can see above the water. When we work at the level of the system structure, we do not ask the question of "who is to blame", we question what the structure is that creates the trends.

 

 

 

 

After all, if a business wants to learn and develop continuously, which has now become an obligatory event, it should adopt and adopt continuous learning and development as a principle in their corporate lives.
