Turkey has an annual consumption of approximately 5 thousand tons. Nearly half of this is met by sea fishing, while the rest is imported. And there is only one farm in our country, which is in Muğla - MİLAS. Its capacity is about 30 Tons/Year. I was at this resort just two days ago and was very impressed.
Mediterranean coastal cities in our country are quite suitable and feasible for this job. Why don't the shrimp that go to Europe from the Far East go from Turkey? We have this potential.
Profitability and return on investment are as follows; profitability rate is 100% (150% if export); return on investment is around 3 - 3.5 years.
As a result of my research, I can clearly say that Turkey's shrimp export can easily reach 1 Billion Dollars with a regular planning. There is no competitor in Türkiye. We are a competitive country due to our logistics advantage to our rivals in the world, the Far East and the EU.
This area is an investment area. Our feasibility studies on this show that the feasibility of shrimp is quite feasible.
